A Brief History of Virginia Village

Virginia Village’s history starts in 1864 when Levi Booth bought the land that is now the neighborhood.

At that time, the area was primarily agricultural, used to grow grain, horseradish, and asparagus. Then, shortly after the Korean War, local families voted to annex most of the area into Denver.

Virginia Village began small, but it’s now blossomed into southeast Denver’s most populous neighborhood. In recent decades the primarily residential neighborhood has seen a boom in commercial developments, adding even more charm and draw to the area.

Most of Virginia Village’s homes, characterized by low mid-century constructions along curvy thoroughfares, were built by 1973. Many still boast glass walls, post-and-beam construction, open floor plans, and low-sloping A-frame roofs.

What the Locals Say About Virginia Village

From easy commutes to amenities for the whole family, residents can’t stop raving about Virginia Village.

We have lived in this neighborhood for the past 20 years. This area is a gem. Neighbors are wonderful, very social and always willing to help one another. It is very dog and kid friendly. It is also wonderful having all of the parks so close. The vicinity is also close to Cherry Creek and downtown. – Trulia user

Lovely neighborhood for sure…There are several great parks in this neighborhood…The Virginia Village Library is one of the cutest libraries ever. Though it is small, there are a lot of great resources there and they offer great volunteering opportunities. Overall, a great place to live. – Niche user
