Life in Denver: Regis Neighborhood

This week’s neighborhood is small but mighty. A rectangular plot in the city’s most northwestern corner, Regis is best known for its family-friendly vibes and cheaper housing sitch than its neighborhood buddies to the south. Here, you’ll find great eats, outdoor activities galore, and plenty of access to everything else Denver has to offer.

A Quick History of Regis

The Regis Neighborhood started as a small farming town, primarily growing celery like its neighbor Berkeley. But as time went on, Regis decided it wasn’t about that farming life and wanted to be known for something a little different. Instead of an unassuming agricultural community, Regis aimed to become an enclave of higher society. Designer and builder William Lang took on this challenge and built 35 custom homes to attract the middle class. He saw it as the perfect opportunity to draw lower class folks away from the Platte River area and regular-shmegular folks in from snooty Capitol Hill. And it worked! The neighborhood saw a boom in residents, and the rest is history. While only a few of those original homes are still around, they were replaced with other architectural beauties like Regis University. Today, the Regis Neighborhood remains an excellent place for students, families, and young professionals alike.

What the Locals Say About Regis

Great parks, restaurants, and lots of small businesses in the area. Centrally located to all major highways for an easy commute… Fairly quiet… -- Niche review I’ve lived here for about 4 years, and it has been great. The neighborhood is only getting better as property values rapidly increase. – Trulia review

5 Reasons We Love Regis

#1 - Delicious eats!

While you won’t find a ton of restaurants in Regis, there are some definite stand-outs! First, check out The Noshery. With a menu full of breakfast and lunch sandwiches, you’re bound to find something you love. (It’s a Regis University favorite!) Or, try out their delectable pastries. The coffee cake is a real treat! Or, if you’re in the mood for Mexican fare, try out El Taco Veloz. In this unassuming little spot, you’ll find some of the city’s most craveable tacos. We hear the nopales (cactus) tacos are absolutely to die for.

#2 - Refreshing drinks.

After filling up on delicious eats, get your drink on at some of Denver’s best breweries. Try Goldspot Brewing Company, where new beers appear on the taps every couple of weeks. While you can find classic varieties, prepare your adventurous side for some more unique brews like the Pink Boots Juicy IPA. This special beer has hints of peach, orange, and banana. It’s like going to the beach… without all the sand.

#3 - Fore!

For the golfers among us, Willis Case Golf Course is a must-do. Folks love the incredible mountain views—particularly off the first tee—and the variability of each hole. This course is more challenging than other city courses, making it the perfect spot for seasoned golfers looking to switch things up.

#4 - Colorado Outward Bound School

Regis is home to the Colorado Outward Bound School headquarters. Here, you can learn everything you need to be the perfect outdoor adventurer. Discover how to safely traverse the wilderness with a wide variety of courses like backpacking, mountaineering, and rafting.

#5 - Inspiration Point Park

If you’re looking for even more ways to get out in the great outdoors, look no further than Inspiration Point Park. During the day, enjoy exceptional mountain views that inspire the imagination. Or, if you stick around at dusk, you’ll see some of the city’s most beautiful sunsets.

Make your move.
